Survivors of childhood trauma and victims of violent crime can as a result of their experiences suffer a high degree of social isolation. They may be able to function adequately in their usual employment or study but feel increasingly alienated from their colleagues. A Support Group can offer participants the opportunity to share their issues in a safe, confidential space where they can share their experiences amongst others who have a similar experience of trauma thereby lessen their feelings of isolation, increase their self confidence and develop their self esteem. The numbers of participants in the group are kept small to encourage trust and sharing within the group.
There is currently a weekly and a monthly support group for women only. Please contact the AHF for further details.
The men's group is not currently running due to lack of demand. It will start up again should demand increase;please contact the AHF if you are interested in joining this group.
