The AURORA HEALTH FOUNDATION aims to provide its counselling, complementary therapies and support services in a safe, secure and peaceful environment that promotes the confidentiality and the anonymity of the individual. In addition to this principle, the Core Values of the AURORA HEALTH FOUNDATION are as follows.
Our Vision
Through providing accessible counselling, complementary therapies and support services to adult survivors of childhood trauma and victims of violent crime, we seek to reduce their emotional pain and suffering and help them reclaim their potential and general well-being denied them as a result of their trauma. Through these therapies & support services we also seek to support the partners of both client groups in helping them with the difficulties they may have in their relationships.
Mission Statement
- We believe that adult survivors of childhood trauma have the right to safe, secure, accessible and appropriate support services to help alleviate the distress caused to them due to neglect, emotional abuse, psychological abuse, sexual abuse and/or physical abuse.
- We believe that victims of violent crime have the right to safe, secure, accessible and appropriate support services to help alleviate the distress caused to them due to physical and/or sexual assault and resulting effects.
- We believe that the life partners of people who have experienced childhood trauma and/or violent crime have the right to safe, secure, accessible and appropriate support services to help them deal effectively with the difficulties they may face in their relationships with a survivor.
- We also believe that the therapists who provide these services have the right to effective and appropriate supervision and workshops sessions to support them with their own well-being.
Our Aim
- To be an influential, independent and effective provider of support services for adult survivors of childhood trauma, victims of violent crime and the partners of both groups, which are complimentary to conventional medicine .
- To provide counselling, complementary therapies and support undertaken by trained counsellors/therapists in private, anonymous and peaceful surroundings.
- To ensure that all therapeutic work undertaken by the AURORA HEALTH FOUNDATION is carried out within clearly defined boundaries of time, place and confidentiality. Therapists and staff within the service will work in accordance with a Code of Conduct developed by the AURORA HEALTH FOUNDATION.
